    3. My ancestor, Samuel Patterson, was issued 2400 acres on the Duck River in Marshall County TN by Warrant #1818, dated 30 Nov 1784. This land was surveyed by David Wilson - John Wilson and Ebenezer Alexander Chain Carriers. This grant was recorded on 17 Dec 1794. He later sold 800 acres of this 2400 acres "in consideration of 254 Spanish Milled Dollars" to Aaron Wilson on the 18th of July 1798. Witnesses: Zacheus Wilson; Samuel Wilson, Jurat: David Wilson, Reg. It is interesting to note that Spanish Milled dollars were used and circulated freely in the United States until 1857, the year James Buchanan became president. It was considered the most reliable currency. The Spanish Milled dollar was valued at eight reales, known as the "pillar dollar" and the piece of eight. I know the people who live on the Aaron Wilson place and have visited in the old house built in the early 1800s several times. In 1811 Samuel deeded the remainder of the 2400 acre grant to sons, Thomas, William, Alexander, James, Robert and Andrew. Apparently he needed the money from the sale to Aaron Wilson for on 31 Jul 1798 he bought 320 acres on the headwaters of Roundlick Creek. He later bought (13 Dec 1804) 1,000 acres on fork of Roundlick Creek. I imagine that all the above Wilsons were somehow related to David Wilson.
