    3. This could have been a son of one of the Buncombe Co., NC Pattersons from the 1810 census perhaps. There were a couple of James Pattersons that went through Buncombe Co., NC and Haywood county also from 1800 through 1820. In particular, there was a group of three Patterson men living close to each other in 1810 Buncombe Co., NC named John, Robert and James Patterson. This 1850 John was NOT the son of the 1810 John, but could have been the son of either James or Robert - they both had sons that would have been around 10 years old in 1810 - COULD have been 10, that is. We don't really know what happened to James or Robert and their families after 1820. I believe there's a good chance they were brothers of the 1810 John. That John settled in Union Co., Ga by 1840. He had a son named Amos Patterson that was born in 1801, who was in Rusk Co., Tx (very close to Anderson Co., Tx) by 1853. Plus, there was a Robert Patterson there by 1852 as well. I'm not sure who the Robert was, but I believe he was either a son of Robert or of James. This John that you found in 1850 could also be a son of either James or Robert of 1810 Buncombe. By the way, do you have access to the 1850 and 1860 census records for counties in Tx other than Anderson? If so, please let me know. Thanks.
