    1. [PATTERSON] Pattersons: SC to AL

    3. Wes, does the information you have on Carolina Pattersons include the following family? James/Isom Patterson and James Neighbors/Nabors married sisters: Margaret and Mary Brown, in Newberry, SC. These four are my gggg-grandparents. James may have been born in SC, but may have come from Ireland. Family tradition says that he and Margaret (Peggy) Brown met on board a ship coming to SC from Ireland. Andrew Jackson Patterson (b 1816, Newberry District SC, d 1886 Tallapoosa Co. AL) and his cousin Mary Ann Neighbors (b 1822, Newberry District, d 1889 Tallapoosa Co. AL) married in 1840 in Chambers Co. AL. Their son John Ledford Patterson and at least a couple other children moved to Fayette Co. AL. Both sets of parents (the Pattersons and the Neighbors) moved to AL. James and Margaret Patterson ended up in Alexander City, Tallapoosa Co. AL and Mary Brown Neighbors in Greene Co. AL, according to another descendant. Someone has suggested that James/Isom Patterson was in Columbia SC for a time before moving to AL, and one researcher claims these families were in GA for a while on the way to AL. If so, the GA stay must have been quite short. Any help at all will be appreciated! Margaret Lindsey Smith
