I just returned from the library and ran across some old DAR records that seem to be way off to me. I am putting this out not to start a fight with the DAR but to get some clarification from anyone on the list. Thomas Patterson was company commander, a Captain, of the Pittsylvania County group of men in the Virginia Sixth Regiment. According to the DAR records, he was born about 1759 and was appointed Captain in 1776. He died in Pennsylvania in 1840. According to the Military records of the Virginia Sixth at the National archives, Captain Thomas Patterson was KIA at the Battle of Trenton, Christmas, 1776. I question the DAR records as to anyone being a Captain at 17. Also, Littleberry Patterson is a Sergeant under Captain Thomas. This would be either a brother or a son of Thomas'. Does anyone have these names? Is there an opinion as to which I should go with, the Military pay records or the DAR? Is there a corrected DAR record on these people? Thanks, Jeff Bailey, Gladstone, Missouri.
