Hello Everyone, I'm new to the list and hoping that someone is researching the same Patterson's as I am. Most of this Patterson family is from Western Maryland. I have gotten to John H. Patterson, b. 1816, d. 1904. He was married 2-2-1848 to Susanah (Susan) Garey, b. 1829, d. 1904. The census says he was born in D.C. and she was born in Md. His father was from Scotland and Mother from MD. By word of mouth, we were told his father was a sailor from N. Ireland who died of Yellow fever in New Orleans. John H. and Susanah had 12 children-( the first 2 were from a previous marriage to her sister Louisa, she probably died in childbirth). All born in Allegany county, MD (probably) -Margaret V. 12-1-1845 -George W. 4-22- 1847 -Minerva C. 12-3-1850 -John W. 8-28-1852 -Mary L. 11-25-1854 -Isabell 4-26-1857 -Elisabeth H. 1-25-1860 -Thomas E. G. 8-15-1862 -Sampson 1963 -Charles C. 11-26-1865 d. 1952 -Ida May 9-17-1867 -Fanny Susan 10-22-1870 -Edward Allen 6-28-1873 Charles Patterson is my great grandfather, he married Agnes Hyde(1869-1926). Their son was John Lester Patterson b. 9-19-1901, d. 4-15-1987-married Ruth Michaels Shaw b. 8-22-1911, d. 6-30-1992. Please let me know if you have any other information about this family.
