    2. jAMES N. PATTERSON, son of pleasant (peter) patterson of Sabine co. and San Augustine co. married louisa Marcella (lucy) DODD patterson in 1860, sept, in san augustine co. tx. They had one son, james M. Patterson(b 1862). this child shows up in the home of his grandparents in St. Landrys Parish, Louisiana age 8, in 1870 census. The whereabouts of his mother is unknown at this time.She did survive as the story of her son living with his grandparents is told in the DODD family. It is thought she may have remarried a man by the name of john dunlap. unknown legend. james n. Patterson was wrongfully listed as james m. patterson but the initial was changed by the clerk in later papers. He was stationed in an army camp of over30,000 to 60,000 soldiers and died of disease just months of arrival. His body has been reinterred in a common ground in Rondo, ark and there is a monument to the men who died at that time. His brother in law, james M. DODD died in january of disease, also.
