    3. I used a resource available to many libraries called OCLC, which allows us to locate & share 30,000,000 items worldwide library-to-library. Generally you should contact your own local library for this information. [This product is generally sold and licensed to libraries rather than individuals, and is not searchable from the publicly accessible web] It indicated that the book you seek does not appear to be very widely available in libraries. In fact, as best I can tell, only the Library of Congress has received a copy of this book (most likely the required depository copy for copyright purposes). Patterson, Sheridan, 1938- The Patterson family / Sheridan Patterson. [1st ed.] [Cane Hill, Ark. : ARC Press of Cane Hill, c1993] While it is possible that smaller libraries not participating in the OCLC system may own the book, these would be very difficult to locate. Instead, I recommend you contact the publisher to see if the book is still available for purchase. ARC Press P.O. Box 188; Cane Hill, AR 72717 501-824-3821 I'm not familiar with the publisher, and suggest that if possible you request an examination copy or payment upon examination/receipt. Hope this helps, ----- Original Message ----- From: <AWNRDC@aol.com> To: <PATTERSON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2001 3:36 AM Subject: [PATTERSON] The PATTERSON Family by 'Sheridan Patterson > Does anyone know where a copy of this book might be (in a library or private > collection). 1. [PATTERSON] ROBESON CO NC CONNECTIONS
    2. Attention Researchers with Robeson Co NC Roots! July 10th, 2001 the Robeson County Heritage Book Committee will be having their meeting at 7:00 pm in the McLean Room of the Robeson County Public Library in Lumberton, NC. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The Robeson County Heritage Book will be written by hundreds of people who submit stories on their Robeson County connected ancestors. If your ancestors were from Robeson Co NC, then we encourage you to submit stories on your Robeson Co NC ancestors. If you do not put your family's story in the book then no one else probably will, and the end result is that they will be left out of the publication. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to write a story. You can make your stories just as simple, or just as elaborate, as you wish. If you are interested in this project and would like to be placed on the mailing list to receive a brochure [brochures should be in from the publisher by late July], then send us your name and smailing address to the e-mail address listed below: SAWESTGTWY@gateway.net Thanks, Sam West Lumberton, NC

    2. Donna Patterson
    3. Good morning all, Once again I thought that I would try posting for help on the mystery of where these 2 Pattersons are buried. They were originally buried in the Navesink M.E. Church burying ground. However, that is now a parking lot. I found out that they could have been moved to 3 other cemeteries, Crystal Springs, Fairview, and I believe the last was Bayview. However, nobody has found them yet. I had a woman contact me last Dec. saying she was going through the church's records, but she has never gotten back to me. My in-laws are going back to NJ this summer and wish to see the graves (are there even going to be markers, don't know if they were moved as well or sitting in a basement) and I don't know where the graves are! I know I am in CA but am still getting creepy feelings that there are missing bodies about in NJ. :) 1 William Bennett Patterson b: February 23, 1816 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada d: September 1885 in Manahawkin, New Jersey Occupation: Schooner Captain b: February 23, 1816 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada d: September 1885 in Manahawkin, New Jersey Age at death: 69 est. 2. Notice to all researchers with Robeson County North Carolina Roots! This message is being sent to all Rootsweb Surnames that is found in some Robeson County records from 1787-1868. If you have any family roots that can be traced back to this county, then this message is for you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------- ROBESON COUNTY HERITAGE BOOK "We may not all do great things, but we all can do small things in a great way" We have had an overwhelming response to our initial announcement concerning the upcoming Robeson County Heritage Book. I have also had multiple questions, and this is what I wanted to address with this posting. One thought that I would like to express to everyone before you read this. You do not have to be a Rhodes Scholar to submit anything to this book, and you are not expected to send in lengthy scholarly works [unless you just want to]. We just want to hear about your ancestors in the ways that you know how to tell it! Please remember the above quote when writing your article(s): "We may not all do great things, but we all can do small things in a great way" Many of us would like to publish stories about our ancestors, but let's be realistic, not many of us can. This is our chance to get the stories of our ancestors in print, and in many cases at no cost [see Guidelines listed below]. Please read over these preliminary guidelines, and then if you are interested in submitting story(ies) about your ancestors, or just would like to be put on the brochure mailing list, then send us your name and mailing address to the e-mail list at the bottom of this page. Also, please forward, or copy, this notice, and send it to anyone else you know who has ancestral roots here in Robeson County, North Carolina. · * * * * * * * * * PRELIMINARY GUIDELINES * * * * * * * * * * Who is eligible to participate in submitting articles? 1. This child, a son, was probably raised by his grandmother or a member of the above family unit patterson. WE don't know the sons n ame or his exact birth.( just that his parents were wed in san augustine co. tx in 1860 and that he was raised in the patterson family because of death of one or both, parents.) This family unit may have moved from texas after 1860. Possibly they went to louisiana? AS we have a mary patterson who married an ashmore man of Shelby Co. tx. , and then she married, a rudolph grabener of San augustine, and moved to louisiana. She may or may not be a member of this family, unknown.(note: rudolph grabener is kin to the dodd family through a sister in law, elizabeth synthia dodd grabener). Elizabeth synthia is also sister to the two dodd children who married the pattersons. IT is possible that the pleasant patterson family went to LA where mary patterson ashmore grabener was living? ALSO: it is more than probable that the other aunt or Malissa caroline or 'e'. patterson dodd was also widowed after the marriage and may have moved back home with her parents??. Does anyone have a patterson census for sabine co. tx that shows this family in 1870 or 1880???? Does anyone have a legend in their patterson family of a grandparent or great grandparent who was raised by his grandparents or aunts or uncles? alot of dodd cousins are searching for this lost little dodd/patterson child.(and his descendants). tHIS is confusing because of these two marriages and their similiar names: 1. james m. dodd wed malissa e or c. patterson in san augustine co. tx on sept 27, 1860 2. james n. or b. patterson wed marcella dodd in san augustine co. tx. on sept 27, 1860--double ceremony of brothers and sisters. 3. The confusion also results because it is possible for each of these wives to be widowed soon after marriage? this is legend and we are trying to solve a couple of mysteries. thanks judy hugg grimes, yorba linda ca. 92886 <megbr549@aol.com>

    3. Hello Wes: I have a possible clue for you on your Franks. Have you checked Jackson, Dekalb, or Etowah County, Al? I have some connections to my Skelton side of my family that goes back into the Franks family. Also we camped near a family of Franks that were several generations of Franks. See if you can find them there. I do not have a census of Jackson county or I would look it up for you. Just thought I would tell you. Good Luck. I am absolutely no farther along with my Patterson clan from Lincoln or Franklin County, Tn than I was when I last talked with you. I get back to 1850 and no farther. My greatgreat grndfather was named James but what Jame's father's name was I have no idea. Only thing I have is his wife was named Nancy. Pretty slim clue to go on. Good Luck with the Franks.
