His mother remarried a couple of years later and it's as if the PATTERSON's never existed. As a result, this has been difficult to say the least. Here is what I have: > Edgar Monroe PATTERSON b Dec 23, 1887, in MO (according to my dad's birth certificate) died in Shreveport, LA Jan 16, 1924. He is buried at Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Mo. Married Iva Lee SIMS in Moberly, MO, Nov 1915 and had 2 sons James b 1918 and Kenneth b 1920. I know this is scant but was hopeful that it might ring a bell with someone. I do know Randolph, Boone and Howard Co's were birthplaces and residences for everyone mentioned above, except for Edgar. I have a William Solomon SCOTT, b. 8 Dec. 1836 married Mary E RADER 1 Nov 1857. She was born 29 May 1838 in Ingel's Prairie, Monroe Co. IL. I believe they are buried in O'Fallon, St. Clair, IL. Mary's parents were John RADER and Sarah ALEXANDER. Mary's siblings, probably all born in Ingle's Prairie, are: James M. Rader, b. 16 Aug. 1840, died 5 Apr, 1860. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in St. Claire CO. Francis M. Rader, b. 5 Nov. 1842, died 12 Feb. 1843 Hannah E. Rader, b. 5 Deb. 1843, died 28 Oct 1871. She married George T. CROSBY Melissa Ann Rader b. 1846, married Richard A. Marshall. They are buried in Barton CO. MO - have lots about them. Cornelia Isabelle Rader, b. 24 Feb. 1848, married John H. COOK. She is buried in Bellville Cemetery, Lebanon, St. Claire CO. IL. Sarah A. Rader, b. 2 Jan died 5 Feb. 1877. Married Horace E. PATTERSON. Can anyone help me with these families? Thanks! Millie
My great great grandfather was Joseph Patterson, Haven't done a lot of research on him for a while. I know that he married Jeanette Seaton McIntyre in 1870. I think they lived in Keithburg, Ill at the time. The moved to Lenox, Iowa in 1874 and to Pawnee County, Nebraska in 1882. Any one with connections? Brenda
I'm looking for the family of Unity PATTERSON b. 19 Sept 1802 VA. I have no idea where in VA. she was from. She was married to Noah Gilpin Hayden 10 Dec 1822 Mercer Co. KY...the surety on the mar. rec. was William PATTERSON. Don't know if he is a brother, Uncle or father?? Can't seem to connect her to any of the PATTERSON's in Mercer Co. KY at the time....there was the Armstead PATTERSON famiy who lived there that had a son around her age named Wm. , so I'm thinking that he might have been her cousin and Armstead was an Uncle... or there was another Wm. Patterson family there also, and he could have been connected, but I can not find any one with any information linking her to either of these lines. Do you know who Unity PATTERSON belongs to? If you do, please contact me as I have family information to share with you. Unity and Noah ended up living in IN...She was living in Greene Co. IN when she died 12 Apr 1870. Thanks so much, N.J.Skinner White in MI vwhite0901@aol.com
Does anyone have access to the Deed books of Mercer Co.KY or know where I can get someone to do a possible lookup for me? In a Will I have from Elizabeth GILPIN HAYDEN dated 1825...it states that she is dividing her property between her children....it further states in dividing up this property Hayden's Lick? Does anyone know where this would be located? It also states that some of her property is next to that of a William PATTERSON. I'm really interested in "Where" this property would have been located and who this William PATTERSON was, as her son Noah Gilpin HAYDEN m. Unity C. PATTERSON and a Wm. PATTERSON signed their mar. rec as surety. I believe if I can find out more info on this, it might help me to figure out exactly who Unity's parents are. So I guess what I'm looking for is property under the names of Noah HAYDEN or his wife Elizabeth GILPIN HAYDEN and also William PATTERSON that would be next to each other in Mercer Co.KY. If anyone could help me out here or suggest someone that I can contact I would be very greatful. N.J.Skinner White in MI vwhite0901@aol.com

I previously posted a message about a naturalization document I have re: John Patterson b. 11/30/1779 Belfast d.4/2/1861 Leitchfield, KY m. Rebecca Troutman 3/30/1809. The original document is about 12" wide and 35" long (one continous piece of paper). I have tried, with no success, to post two files to this List that show this document in different sizes. The files are jpeg files. If you want them, pls email me direct and I will send them to you. They are rather large, about 1090kb. If any of you are ever in Nashville, call me and you can see the original. The document reads as follows: Virginia Norfolk Borough At a quarterly session Court continued and held the 28th day of March 1805. It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that John Patterson late of Ireland in the Kingdom of Great Britain has resided within the Jurisdiction of the United States for five years and for one year within this State, and he making oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and absolutely and entirely renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever, particularly the King of Great Britain; and moreover appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, attached to the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, the said John Patterson is thereupon admitted to become a citizen. Hello, I'm new to this List & wonder whether anyone has any information on the late 1700s to mid 1800s PATTERSON line(s) of Huntingdon Co., PA. From where did they come, before Huntingdon Co.? To which line(s) did the following Huntingdon Co. Patterson's belong? Mary Jane Patterson b.c1809; m.William Hutchison John I. Patterson b.c1810 Huntingdon, PA; m.Sarah Hutchison Thank you. Bev

I just returned from the library and ran across some old DAR records that seem to be way off to me. I am putting this out not to start a fight with the DAR but to get some clarification from anyone on the list. Thomas Patterson was company commander, a Captain, of the Pittsylvania County group of men in the Virginia Sixth Regiment. According to the DAR records, he was born about 1759 and was appointed Captain in 1776. He died in Pennsylvania in 1840. According to the Military records of the Virginia Sixth at the National archives, Captain Thomas Patterson was KIA at the Battle of Trenton, Christmas, 1776. I question the DAR records as to anyone being a Captain at 17. Also, Littleberry Patterson is a Sergeant under Captain Thomas. This would be either a brother or a son of Thomas'. Does anyone have these names? Is there an opinion as to which I should go with, the Military pay records or the DAR? Is there a corrected DAR record on these people? Thanks, Jeff Bailey, Gladstone, Missouri.
Sharolyn, I'm not sure he married in Sabine Co, TX...the place I got that information didn't say TX. I'm guessing. Nor am I sure he was living in Sabine in 1864.....if he had already moved to Harrison, she might be living in a county near there. Anne
Frank Barlow SEXTON (b. 1828, Posey Co., TN) m Elliza S. RICHARDSON of Sabine Co. (TX?). Frank and Elliza are in the 1880 Harrison Co., TX Census. I am still working on where they were in 1864, and on confirming that he was a lawyer <G>. Nevertheless, perhaps Harrison Co., TX is a place to look for the widow? Anne

I have a document re: John Patterson. It is too dim and too large to copy. It is about 12" wide and 22" high - and it is framed. It is written by hand (of course) and reads as follows: Virginia Norfolk Borough At a quarterly session Court continued and held the 28th day of March 1805. I think this to be the John Patterson that married Rebecca Troutman, and who had a son named James Patterson who married Permelia Mattling. The only dates I have on these four people are on Permelia Mattling b.1824 d.1898. James and Permelia lived in Grayson County, KY, and he is my great-great grandfather. They had eight children. If you have the dates on John Patterson and wife, or their son James (or other children unknown to me) or other information about John Patterson, please let me know.
