ROBERT PATTERSON,[abt 1700-1766] married GRACE ___ and lived on a tract of 193 1/2 acres in 1756 on both sides of South River just north of the present village of Harriston, VA. He deeded it to his son-in-law Alexander Stuart in 1767. He may have immigrated before 1745. He was probably the brother of WILLIAM PATTERSON. Known children include: MARY, THOMAS, and ELIZABETH. There were at least 6 Patterson [Petterson] families in Augusta County, and their relationship to each other is not known. Looking for more information on Robert and Grace. Juhling McClung

I am so sorry! I was making my first post and try to tend to my little girl and wasn't paying too much attention! William Patterson, born in Rowan Co. NC 1762 d.1804 Franklin Co.,TN He was a private in Yarboros Company during the RW His wife was Elizabeth Brown, 1770-1811 I don't know where any of there children (William,James,Betsy,John,Polly) were born. I do know that one grandchild (James' son) Thomas Simpson Patterson was born in TN in 1818. Thomas fought and died in the Civil War at the Battle of Jonesboro in 1864. This line went from Greene Co.Alabama in the mid 1840's to Pontotoc Co.,MS around 1860 and then on to Texas. I hope this helps. Please forgive me once again! Next time I will give it my full attention! Thanks Mandy Patterson Womble
Mandy, it would really help us if you would give some idea of where these people lived. I am looking for information on a portion of my family I know very little about, and can give very little information, but hopefully, something strikes a chord with someone. My great grandmother was a Lulu Cyndia Patterson who married a Joseph Morgan Cox. Her brother was a Fred Patterson, of whom I have a picture if anyone is interested. The family might have originated at Wichita Falls, Texas, but I am not certain. One of Lulu's sisters was supposed to have been killed by Jayhawker's. Thank you for any help; Joseph Morgan Ives.

Need information on the children of Archibald Patterson who lived very early in Madison Co. Ala. at least by 1810. Was he from Moore Co. NC? What was his relationship to Daniel Gillis? What was his wifes name? Any help appreciated. Ralph
Hello, I have been lurking and hoping that someone would mention my Laura Patterson. She was born about 1811 in Connecticut? Massachusetts? and married William Cooper. In 1843 they were in Binghampton, Broome County, New York where Laura gave birth to my ancestress, Emeline Cooper. The whole Cooper family ended up in Barry County, Michigan. William Cooper has proved impossible to track, as well, by the way. Laura and William also had children named Milo, James Calvin, Simon, David, Polly and Francelia. I also hoped that someone would mention Amos Patterson. I found a very brief reference to this judge/politician/congressman and since he was from Connecticut and also ended up in Broome County, I had thought (wished!) that I could find a connection between him and my Laura. If anyone is missing a Laura Patterson, please let me know! And if anyone knows anything about Amos, please tell me that too - or point me to any written materials about him. At least I could then rule him out..... Thanks for reading. Paula Naujalis Grand Rapids, Michigan [email protected]

Page 321 History of Chester County Pennsylvania, by J. Smith Futhey & Gilbert Cope In a section of the book called Bibliography Rev. Robert P. Du Bois ³A record of the Families of Robert Patterson (the Elder). Emigrant from Ireland to America, 1774; Thomas Ewing, from Ireland, 1718; and Louis Du Bois from France, 1660; connected by the marriage of Uriah Du Bois with Martha Patterson, 1798. This is a series of three family records, the Patterson, the Ewing, and the Du Bois, on the last two of which can claim authorship in this county. The first--the record of the Patterson family--was written by William Ewing Du Bois, of Philadelphia; the others were written as follows: 1. A record of the Family of Thomas Ewing, who emigrated from Ireland in 1718. Edition of 150 copies for the use of the family connections only. 1858. 8vo., pp. 38. Written by Rev. Robert Patterson Du Bois, of New London, Chester County. 2. Record of the Family of Louis Du Bois, who emigrated from France in 1660. Edition of 150 copies; printed for the use of the family connections only. 1800. 8vo.. pp. 76. This is a joint production of Rev. Robert P. Du Bois, of New London, and William E. Du Bois, of Philadelphia. These works are admirably adapted for what they are intended to be, --repositories of facts that will interest members of the family. The fullness of the biographical details, however, renders them quite interesting to the general readers as well as to relatives.² ----------------- First of all does any one know of these books, have copies or know where copies could be located. Seems like several could benefit if we could access these books. By the way, there is mention that Uriah Du Bois was a French Huguenot who came to America in 1660 for conscience¹ sake and his son, Rev. Robert Patterson Du Bois was the founder and first pastor of the Presbyerian Church at Doylestown, PA according to page 252 in this same book. Ring any bells with anyone?
