I'm trying to make a connection between Unity Patterson Hayden and William Patterson....on the marriage bonds and consent he was listed as the Bondsman on Dec. 10, 1822 for Unity and Noah G. Hayden.....William was the son of Armstead Patterson .....Wm. was married to Elizabeth Devine and was listed on the Mercer Co. census 1800 and Unity was born 1802 so he could be her father......does anyone have any info that would tie this family together?? Please contact me if you do..any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, N.J.

I am looking for information on Charles Hamilton Patterson. Born June 22, 1825 in Cortland Co. NY and married in 1847 to Lethea (Althea) Barker born 20 May 1825 in Putnam Co, NY. She died June 20, 1857. They had one daughter, Marietta born 14 July 1848. I believe Althea died in New York before Charles moved to Iowa in 1858. To anyone, This is an email I sent to a lady who posted a query on the Patterson GenForum website. Here goes.... ********* Janet, Regarding this genforum posting: "Posted by Janet Oliver Haynes on June 06, 1998 at 09:57:40: I just downloaded all the information regarding William Patterson of Cross Creek, Washington Co., PA, who is a son of James Patterson (1708-1791) of Little Britain Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. I am interested in another son of James' who went to Ohio "late in life." His name was John Patterson, born about 1735 who married Eleanor Milligan and had children: Mary (1765), James, Martha, John, Hannah, Eleanor, William and Elizabeth. Does anyone know what part of Ohio John moved to? I believe he went between 1802 and 1810 and possibly went to live with one or more of his children already living in Ohio. The e-mail address is my sister's, but she will snailmail anything you wish to send. Thanks!" ********************* ....do you have any data regarding the ancestors of this James Patterson? Are you aware of any research done by a Leonardo Andrea in 1947 and 1955? In his compilations, he documented the John Patterson, Sr (b 1640) family (son, Robert, and Robert's 10 sons), who came to America in 1728 - NJ. By 1730, they were all over PA. Actually, 6 of Robert's 10 sons came in 1728, the other 4 came later with their families, one as late as 1760/62. Andrea also documented James Patterson of 1708, but he didn't link him with Robert. He never did get the full list of 10 sons' names, only had a couple. Just wondering if anyone can help me on this. Will be happy to share in more detail regarding the family that came over in 1728, or anything else he may have here. Thanks. I would like to thank Viola Jones for sharing this work of Leonardo Anrea with me, as well. Ernest, Hello, my name is Wes Patterson, of Winston-Salem, NC. Today I was going over some paperwork that a fellow researcher sent to me about 2 years ago. Her name is Viola Jones (many of you on this list know her, I'm sure). Last time I checked, she still didn't have email. The copies she sent me was of some work that a man (now deceased) named Leonardo Andrea did in 1947 and 1955. This has to do with the line of Pattersons that came over in 1728, to NJ, and by 1730 were in PA. They were John Patterson, Sr (b 1640, Scotland), and at least 1 of his 3 sons, maybe more, e.i. Robert Patterson (would have been born ca 1670-80, perhaps, born in Londonderry, Ireland). Also, 6 of Robert's 10 children came as well, and the other 4 sons followed in later years with their families. I'll quote from his 1955 compilation, page 1, bullet #4. "Son of John.... ROBERT PATTERSON was born in Londonderry, Ireland and came to America circa 1727 [also later says 1728...Wes] with six of his ten sons...His other four sons followed their father to America with their families...Robert Patterson first settled in New Jersey but later moved over into Pennsylvania and settled in Lancaster County...His ten (Miss Phillips wrote she had the names of these sons but she never sent the list to me...Andrea) [Miss Phillips was one of the ladies that Andrea prepared this for in the 1947 compilation...Wes] sons settled in Chester Co..Lancaster Co..Bucks Co..York Co. in Pennsylvania...Others pushed down into Augusta Co. Va. and over into Amelia Co. Va. and then following the migrations some of the sons and several of the grand sons came into Mecklenburg and Anson Counties N.C. and over into the Long Canes in Abbeville Co. S.C. and in the Waxhaws in Lancaster Co. S.C...One son was William Patterson." Andrea went on to give the names of the 7 sons and daughter of this William Patterson. This William must have been one of the other 4 sons who waited some time before coming to America, though. It appears it was about 1760-1762 before he and his wife and 8 kids came to America. William had a son named Samuel, who evidently served in the Rev. War, so it's possible that a nephew of this William was also named Samuel, and may have been one of these who "pushed down into Augusta Co., VA" that Leonardo Andrea refers to. Any info you can share with us regarding the Augusta Co and Amelia Co., VA Pattersons would be greatly appreciated. I was getting to post this query myself, then I noticed you had already posted yours, and they may very well be closely connected. Any additions and/or corrections to the above data would be graciously accepted. And, again, I want to give credit to Viola Jones for passing this on to me. I'm in the process of trying to reach her again (her daughter lives 10 miles from me), so I'll keep you posted. My deepest apologies to Keith Townson....I was right in that he descends from Joseph B. Patterson, but it's not the Joseph Sr or Jr I spoke of in the first email. Keith actually descends from the Joseph B. Patterson, son of John Patterson, Jr...the younger brother of Joseph B. Patterson, Sr. So that makes at least 3 Joseph B. Pattersons! Why couldn't they have come up with some original names, or something? Of course, I have room to talk....I named my son after me! Sorry, Keith. I have some marriages for Patterson Brides and Grooms in East Tennessee. Willing to do look-ups if anyone needs them. The earliest one seems to be in 1799 and the latest one 1881. I [email protected]
Does anyone know what the "B" stands for in Joseph Patterson's name? He and his son were both in Union Co., Ga in 1850. The Sr lived from 1789 to 1860's, and the Jr was born ca 1811-1815. I know Keith Townson and Dennis Patterson and many others descend from Joseph Sr. The reason I'm asking is because I wonder if it was "Bunyan"? Joseph Sr's brother George Patterson, born 1800, was my g-g-g-grandfather. By his second wife, he had a son he named George B. Patterson, born ca 1855 in Union Co., Ga. But George (1800) also had a grandson through his first wife named George Bunyan Patterson, born 6-6-1881. My point is that all the "B"s I've seen in George's line has seemed to stand for Bunyan, and it made me wonder if maybe the name Bunyan was passed down through Joseph's lines any? Just a thought......
