    3. I am looking for the ancestors of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell from Macon County, TN. This is all I know about my Patterson ancestors. 1. Thomas Patterson was born in 1817 at Macon County, Tennessee. He married Elvira Howell in 1835, and they had seven children. Thomas died on January 10, 1867 at Hancock County, Illinois. He was buried at Hancock County, Illinois, LaCross Cemetery. 2. Eason H. Patterson, the son of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born in 1837 at Macon County, Tennessee. He married Eveline E. Wilson on July 20, 1856 at Hamilton, Hancock County, Illinois, and they had four children. Eason died circa January of 1865 at Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. He was buried at Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. 3. Nancy Patterson, the daughter of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born on February 06, 1837 at Macon County, Tennessee. She married Charley Clark, and they had one child. Nancy died on February 23, 1883 at Lockridge, Jefferson County, Iowa. She was buried circa February of 1883 at Lockridge, Jefferson County, Iowa. 4. William J. Patterson, the son of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born on July 06, 1840 at (near Nashville), Macon County, Tennessee. He married Virginia Antoinette McCumber on March 31, 1861 at Hancock County, Illinois, and they had fourteen children. William died on November 19, 1921 at Hancock County, Illinois. He was buried circa November of 1921 at LaHarpe, Hancock County, Illinois, LaHarpe Cemetery. 5. Mary Jane Patterson "Polly", the daughter of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born circa 1843 at Tennessee. She married John Henry Bulter on November 22, 1862 at Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, and they had one child. Mary died circa 1864. She was buried circa 1864. 6. Thomas Benton Patterson, the son of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born on September 23, 1850 at Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois. He married, first, Jane Willson ? "Jane Young" at Bible Grove, Scotland County, Missouri, and they had five children. He married, second, Pearl Cowden, and they had three children. Thomas died on January 06, 1925 in Arkansas. He was buried circa January of 1925 at Briggsville, Yell County, Arkansas. 7. Martha Patterson, the daughter of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born on August 02, 1852 at Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois. She married Thomas Wellington Sr. on March 28, 1869, and they had ten children. Martha died circa September of 1930 at Mapleton, Bourbon County, Kansas. She was buried circa 1930 in Kansas. 8. James Douglas Patterson, the son of Thomas Patterson and Elvira Howell, was born on March 03, 1857 at Hancock County, Illinois. He married Rachel Dorthy on March 13, 1879, and they had seven children. James died on June 12, 1920 at Scotland County, Missouri. This is the wonderful piece of paper that prooves that the mysterious "Asa P." buried at Old Toxaway Cemetery in Transylvania County, NC is this Asa Patterson - at least prooves it as well as you can get short of a DNA test and is probably more dependable than a few markers in the area. Her father was William Patterson, and census data from 1840 suggests that they lived in Pine Creek Township. There are a few lines that I don't have the descendants' data on, and your line may in fact be part of them.     3. I recently found this obit. in my Great-grandmother's things. Pendleton - Frank Patterson 71, of 542 S. Pendleton Ave., died Sunday evening at St. John's Hospital. He had been ill three weeks. Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Cornell Bright Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack Barkdull. Interment will be in the Mendon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 2 PM. today. Mr. Patterson was a retired employee of the town of Pendleton where he had resided all his life. Born Oct. 2, 1897, in Madison County, he was a son of John and Rebecca Patterson. His wife Myrtle, died in 1967. He is survived by three grand-children, Charles Kuhns of Anderson, Richard Kuhns of Pendleton and John Kuhns of Longmont, Colo; two half-sisters, Mrs. Grace Pettigrew of Pendleton, and Mrs. Iva Bunker of Montana. I, Martha Patterson, of Madison county, in the state of Indiana, in view of the uncertanty of life and the certanty of death do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void any and all wills by me at any time heretofore made. 1st. I will and direct that after my death my funeral expenses be paid out of my estate and that my funeral be conducted in accord with my estate and conditions in life. 2nd. I direct that my debts, if there should be any at my death, be paid out of any money that may come into the hands of my executor and as to the remainder of my estate I will and dispose of as follows. I give and bequeath to my son, Charles M. Patterson, thirty dollars to make him equal to advancements that I have already made to the balance of my children 3rd. I give and bequeath to John T. Patterson, Mariah E. Huston (formerly Mariah E. Patterson) Mary E. Dildine (formerly Mary E. Patterson) Almeda Stidham (formerly Almeda Patterson) and Charles M. Patterson my sons and daughters, all my estate that I may die the owner of, both person and real, not here above described, disposed of share and share alike, with the following restrictions; as to the portion that I will to my son, John Patterson I will and direct that he shall have the sole use and occupancy of his share of the real estate hereby willed during his natural life, or as long as said real estate remains unsold and if said real estate should be sold by order of partition ordered by a proper action for partition, that the money arising from such sale shall be kept at interest for his benefit in the support of is family and if said interest arising from said money should not be sufficient to support him and his family with such other means he may have, then I will and direct that he may in case of necessity use of the principle of said fund, and as to the portion willed to Mariah E. Huston, I will and direct that she shall have the ownership, use and control of the same during her natural life, and then the remainder of her said portion to descend to the heirs of her body, and if she should see proper or it should become necessary for her support, she may sell said real estate and when converted into cash to keep the same at interest using said interest and such portion of the principle as may be necessary for her support and the remainder at her death to descend to the heirs of her body and as to the portion hereby willed to Mary E. Dildine and Almeda Stidham, I will that they shall own and use and occupy the real estate hereby willed them during their natural lives and then descend to the heirs of their bodies, and if they or either of them should see proper, or it should become necessary for their support, then they or either of them may sell their portion of said real estate, and when reduced to cash, to keep the same at interest and said interest and such portion of the principle as may be necessary for their support to be used at their death respectively to descend to the heirs off their bodies. I have appointed Levi Patterson, executor of this my last will with this special charge on him - that in the event that it should become necessary to sell the potion of said real estate hereby willed to John T. Patterson that my said executor shall sell said real estate and report the same to court for approval and confirmation and to take charge of and keep the purchase money at interest for the use and support of said John T. Patterson and his family to apply such portions of the principle as in his judgement as would be proper from time to time as he may need the same.     3. Greetings everyone! Is there anyone out there studying Patterson's who settled in Ontario in the 1800s? My family came over from Scotland in around 1830. Neil & Nancy Patterson settled on Canada Co. land in Oakwood, Ontario, near Lindsay and Peterborough. They farmed their land for many, many years. They had about 8 children (I'm still counting), one was my gr grandfather, Lauchlin, who was born in 1842 and married. Jane Wallace, b. 1847. They had 10 children, including my grandfather, John Albert, b. 1973, he married Jane Anne McNamee around 1887. Does anyone know anything about this (my) family?
