Hi My deadend is Jesse PATE. He was b. in about 1814 in NC, probably Buncombe. Jesse married Loucretia EDWARDS in 1836 in Macon Co, IL. It seems probable that Jesse had several brothers in southern IL: Jacob, Redding, Wm, Riley. I believe Jacob followed Jesse and Loucretia when the family moved up to the mines in Jo Davies Co, IL where they stayed for a year or two before moving on to Jackson Co, IA. in 1838. Jesse died before 1850. Jacob PATE can be found in Jones Co, IA thru 1870. Jacob's wife's name was Emily, although I suspect she might have been his second wife.
