Think this would seem to indicate Matilda and Nolan Pate were very possibly parents of James Marion Pate. Thanks to Deborah for her help. Matilda, Mary, Hattie, and James were children born to the union of James Marion and Caroline Roemer. Bertha, Jesse, William, Laura, Louis and Eustace were born to the union of James Marion and Emaline. I believe James Marion's mother's name was also Matilda as I have a letter in my possession address to her son (James Marion) and signed, "Your loving mother, Matilda".
