I found this on the MS 1850 census for Tishomingo Co MS. Wm H. Pate age 29 bn in MI ( don't make sense) Lucinda age 25 bn AL Almeda A. age 1 bn AL Frances J. age 2/12 mo's bn MI

Beverly This William H Pate is, no doubt, the man who married Lucinda Canady 26 Nov 1846. One source suggests they married in Itawamba Co MS (Book 2, Page 130, by John Wylie, JP). Another source suggests that they married in Tishomingo Co. I go with Itawamba Co. This William H Pate was born in Mississippi not Michigan. He also was enumerated in the 1860 census of Tishomingo Co Page 114, Carrollville, site 763/763 William H Pate 39 MS Lucinda Pate 37 TN Almeda Pate 12 AL Mary Pate 8 MS Given two facts, i.e., 1) other Pate-Canady marriages in the Tuscaloosa-Pickens Co AL area 2) some of their children being born in AL, I would conclude that this William H Pate was from the Tuscaloosa Pate lines. They also were enumerated in the 1870 census of MS, but the were in Prentiss Co. Page 372, Boonville, site 203/204. There was another William H Pate who appeared in the 1860 census of Tishomingo Co MS. Page 452, Burnsville, site 3045/3045. William H Pate 23 AL Rebecca Pate 21 MS Mary J Pate 1 MS This man is probably James William Henderson Pate who married Rebecca Washburn 28 Sep 1858 in Tishomingo Co MS.
