Graveside services for Daphna Leona Mathews Eason, 81, of Florien, Louisiana, will be held Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Pastor Freddie Hippler officiating. Mrs. Eason was born January 7, 1931, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Ora (Bowens) and Chord Lee Mathews. She died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in a Sabine Parish, Louisiana nursing facility. Mrs. Eason had resided in Florien, Louisiana for the past 35 years, and formerly lived in Lufkin for many years. She was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to paint and was known as a local artist in Many, Louisiana. She also loved to quilt. Mrs. Eason was a member of the First Baptist Church of Florien. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, William Henry Eason of Florien, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Lavonne and Bob Johnson of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Buford and Debbie Mooney of Orange; step-children, James Eason, Nora Eason, Clarence Eason, Johnny Robinson and Clara Eason; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brother, C.L. Mathews of Lufkin. Mrs. Eason was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, LaRue Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Pate, Delvin Mooney, Eric Longmire, Daniel Featherston, Corey Clements and Chris Longmire. Memories and condolences may be added at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com.
