Posted: Thursday, July 5, 2012 12:00 pm (ROANOKE) Rebecca Pate Hishida, 59, Seymour Drive, Roanoke, died Monday morning, July 2, 2012, at her residence. The funeral will be Sunday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Roanoke. The Rev. Timothy Huguley, pastor, and Rev. Elijah Jackson Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow church cemetery. Mrs. Hishida will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral. "Becky," as she was affectionately called, was the daughter of Ceroy Clyde Pate of Roanoke and the late Naomi Trammell Pate. She was born Aug. 1, 1952, in Chambers County. Rebecca was a member of the last graduating class of Randolph County Training School in 1970. In addition to her father, she is survived by her former husband, Kazuhira Hishida; her son, Kazu Hishida; and her grandson, all of Nashville, Tenn.; her siblings, Johnnie Rachel of Inglewood, Calif., Herman Pate Winston of Anniston, Carolyn Powell of LaGrange, Ga., Mary Holmes of Houston, Texas, Ronald Pate, Travis Pate and Mattie Brooks, all of Roanoke, Merecia Milliner of Weaver, and Jessie Heflin and Virginia Johnson of Atlanta; two aunts; a special friend, Alvin Broome; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
