Obituary Joyce Wilhite Pate, 83, passed away peacefully July 26, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Arthur William Pate; her daughter, Cynthia Gibbs, and her husband, Bill, of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, Arthur W. Gibbs of Richmond, Henry Pate of Gainesville, Fla., and Byron Pate of Atlanta, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Arthur W. "Bill" Pate Jr. of Yankeetown, Fla., and her five siblings, Bram, Yvonne, Sarah, Jack and Martha. Joyce was born and raised in Atlanta and graduated from Girls High School. She and Art moved to Williamsburg in 1999 from Pine Island, Fla. The family lived in Atlanta, Tampa and Miami over the years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and shared her husband's love of boating and fishing. The family will receive friends 2:30 to 3:30, with service at 3:30 at Horis Ward Funeral Home, Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd., Stockbridge, GA 30281.
