Vernon, died 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4. 2012, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1925, in Lawrence County, Ind., the daughter of William and Grace (Stader) Wilard. She married John William Pate on May 10, 1944, in Benton; he preceded her in death in March 1976. She is survived by two sons, Steve Pate and wife Gayla of Mt. Vernon and Barry Pate and wife Betty of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Tawaina Allen of Nason and Veronica Clark of Raleigh, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Meredith Wilard; three sisters, Thelma Webb, Mary Haynes and Ruby Wicks; and two grandsons. Bonnie worked in the housekeeping department of Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon (now known as White Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care Center) and was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. David Shores officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Memorial Cemetery. There will be no visitation. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
