Some records show him as William Anthony Pate. His grandfather was William Anthony Pate 1812-1894. The elder Pate lived in what is now Webster Parish, Louisiana and is buried in Bistineau Cemetary near Heflin, Louisiana. He had a cousin of the same name who was born the same year that lived in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.
