DELEOT WINSTON-SALEM Elma Stearns Deleot Oct. 28, 1923 - Dec. 26, 2012 Mrs. Deleot was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Elma Stearns as well as her husband Charles Deleot, Jr. She is survived by her children: Charles Frederick Deleot, III and wife, Laurie, of Southern Pines, NC; Thomas Land Deleot and wife, Annette, of Winston-Salem and Andrea Deleot McLean and husband, Robert, of Morehead City; grandchildren: Celeste McLean Young and husband, Terry; Robert Todd McLean, Thomas Land Deleot, Jr. and wife, Laura; and Forrest Thornton Deleot; and his great grandchildren: Catherine Pate Young, Watson [rest of obituary not shown] Published in Winston-Salem Journal from December 30, 2012 to January 2, 2013 Elma Stearns Deleot of Winston-Salem passed away Dec. 26, 2012. She has relatives in the county.There will be a private service at Centenary Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. She was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Statesville to the late Carroll and Elma Stearns. She was active in the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, the Military Officers Association and the USO of N.C. She attended Woman’s College, now UNC, where she excelled in the performing arts as well as design. These talents showed up throughout her life. Her unique personal style, infectious smile and acts of kindness endeared her to all. She was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Charles F. Deleot III and wife Laurie of Southern Pines and Thomas L. Deleot and wife Annette of Winston-Salem; daughter, Andrea D. McLean and husband Robert of Morehead City; four grandchildren, Celeste McLean Young, Thomas Land Deleot Jr., Forest Thornton Deleot and Robert Todd McLean; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Carroll A. Stearns of Burlington. The family request memorials go to Centenary Methodist Church, Winston-Salem. Arrangements are by Salem Funeral Home of Winston-Salem.
