Nathan R. Pate, age 26, of Smyrna, GA passed away on December 28, 2012. He served in the United States Army from 2006 to 2009. Nathan also served the IRAQ war from 2007 to 2008. He was awarded medals of Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Global war on terrorism service, and the IRAQ campaign medal with campaign star. He received the Army service ribbon and the overseas service ribbon. Nathan is preceded in death by his mother Lauren L. Pate and maternal grandfather Leon P. Jernigan. Surviving family members are his brother Daniel P. Pate and father Benny R. Pate. Other surviving family members are Glenda Jernigan, maternal grandparent, Janice Pate and Enest Dikilato, Wallace and Geraldine Pate, paternal grandparents. Services will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA on Thursday January 3, 2013. Visitation will be from 10-12, service to follow at noon in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial to follow at 2pm at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
