While it's correct that Mathew b.1738VA, had a son Jeremiah...he was born between 1775-1780VA, and may not be old enough at that time (1798) to hold legal title ownership...right? So, subject Mathew, son of Edward PATE & TINSLEY(?), had younger brothers Thomas b. 1743 and Jeremiah b.1745 VA. (To my knowledge, Mathew did not have a son, Thomas.) I wish I could answer your two questions about Charles?? and Elizabeth PATE-HENDERSON. I have neither one in my database....but, I have a note to keep an eye out for them. I got a very good 'tip' though from a prof-genealogist regarding my MARGERY PATE....he told me to re-search using both the name MARGARET and MARGERY. A friend had also mentioned to seek out ELIZABETH. The name MARGERY is a 'baptismal name" for both MARGARET and ELIZABETH......in the same category as all our "POLLY" (s). I feel rather inept...after all these decades of trying to find Margery. No one had ever mentioned that to me before. So far, there are no MARGARET PATE(s) who married HOLLOWAY.
