I was wondering if anyone knows for sure that John Pate born 1801 in Nc and Evaline Bates NC are the parents of William Pate, listed as W. A. Pate in the 1880 US census. Because on the census he has his parents as born in GA. My aunt has records as John Pate and Evaline Bates as parents of W.A. Pate and a James M. Pate born 1765 as his father. Because according to my aunt, John Pate is listed in the Indian census Montgomery archives. She believes that to be our Indian connection. If there is a comment would welcome any.
