    3. Rev Eldred T Pate b. 21 Oct 1841 Hancock Co, KY d. 12 May 1917 was no doubt the son of Minor E Pate and Rebecca H May of Hancock Co KY. See 1850 census of Hancock Co KY page 300, site 486/503. He was listed as Elred E Pate age 9 b ca 1841. Minor E Pate and Rebecca H May were md 8 Mar 1834 in Daviess Co KY Minor E Pate was enumerated in the 1840 census of Hancock Co KY (page 012), however, there are no names in the 1840 census other than the head of house. Minor Pate appears in several early censuses, including slaves schedules, in Hancock Co KY. Nearby there was an older man named William Pate also enumerated. In the 1850 census we see this man again as William Pate b VA ca 1775 and his wife Nancy b VA ca 1780. There was a William Pate who married a Nancy Compton 2 Sep 1797 in Montgomery Co VA. Question: Were William Pate and Nancy Compton the parents of Minor E Pate b KY ca 1809?
