John The earlier House Journal entry indicates that the three were from Illinois, the second entry indicates that the relief bill was expanded to include- 1. three Pate men from Illinois 2. W T Sherman 3. Unnamed officers and men of the GA Battn The problem with pension records is that they are for surviving soldiers who lived long enough to meet the pension law provisions. If a soldier served in 1846-1848 and died in 1872, he was never eligible for a pension that was authorized in 1880 or later.
