Thank you Joel. I don't remember who gave me the 1910 census info but it was quite a while ago. So, no I don't have the exact location for them. I will be looking for it hopefully later today. I can't say that I have spent a great deal of time searching for this family as information seems to be pretty limited. I see a lot of Pates, and scratch my head. If I could find out where Will Daniel died maybe I could get his death certificate. Since he appears to be the Will/William Pate found in the 1920 & 1930 Little River, Pemiscot Co., MO census, I will see if I can find a death certificate. Thanks for the other info from 1920 & 1930. I actually was just looking at that again last night. James M. Killion was my mother-in-law's grandfather -- father of Ruby Nell "Nellie" Killion Pate. I was skeptical of my mom-in-law's story about Jerry Pate. Thanks for setting the record straight. I will have to relay the info to her. I wonder where she got that information? Probably one of those stories that started out as a "I wonder if...." and later turned into fact. : ) Thanks. I will check into those leads. Some questions and tidbits. You said: In the 1910 Gibson Co., TN census, Vila May/Viola May/Veale May is living with her grandparents, Hiram & Frances Wilson who have been married for 3 years and is the 2nd marriage for both. Do you have a citation for this 1910 Gibson Co TN census record? John Balthrup Pate and Ruby Nell Killion appear in the 1920 and 1930 censuses of MO. In 1920 they were newly weds living with James Monroe Killion in Pemiscot Co MO ED 160, sheet 9, lines 73-74. In 1930 they were living in Le Sieur, New Madrid Co MO ED 15, sheet 4A. John 28 b TN Nellie 27 b MO Aletha 8 b MO Virginia 5 b MO Apparently they divorced soon after this enumeration. You said: My Mom-in-law thinks that his grandson may be the golder Jerry Pate, but I don't know if that is true or not. Jerry Pate, the PGA golfer, is Jerome Kendrick Pate, son of Patrick Jefferson Pate Jr and Joyce E Gallagher, g/s of Patrick Jefferson Pate Sr and Katherine Lola Freeman. This line descends from John W Pate, Patrick Jefferson Pate and James Kendrick Pate of Washington Co GA and is a collateral line to the Redding Pate family of Washington and Pulaski Co GA. These lines are VA>NC/GA>FL, and were not in TN and MO. Some possible leads- Take a look at the 1880 census of Smith Co TN, household of Lawson Pate ED 117 sheet 11 Searching 1930 census for w/f named Vela M b TN age 27 or 28 - found 1- Vela M Archer age 27 wife of Wilson B Archer Alcorn Co MS Joel
