Just a few additions to Sharon & Joel's posting: Louisa A Pate is in my direct line, dau of John Pate & Francis (Hobbs) Pate - she md (1) to Henry D Woodworth on 29 Jan 1839 - and (2) to James McKnight (the date of 29 Jan 1839 for second marriage is wrong), as near as I can figure it would have been around 1859 and she would have been Louisa Pate Woodworth -- Joseph T Pate, who md Mary Fitzgerald, is the son of William Pate & Elizabeth (Shaw) Pate from AL Elizabeth Pate listed in the 1870 mortality schedule is PROBABLY from the NC Pate's - Elizabeth (Brock) Pate, wife of Richard Pate Edgar Pate was b. ca 1906, son of Thomas J & Edna Pate. Edgar is descendant of David Coonrod Pate & Sarah Straughter Peter Pate, of course, is Peterson Pate - and I SUSPECT he fits in with the Sussex Co, VA line of Pate's Mrs S E Pate is Sarah Emily (Talton) Pate, widow of George Jefferson Pate. J D Pate is Joseph David Pate, and W N Pate is William Newton Pate - brothers, and sons of Sarah E & Geo J Pate - this family is also descended from David Coonrod Pate. Maybe this will help someone.
