All messages posted on PATE-L are placed in a searchable archive file. Anyone may search those archive files at any time. Here are the instructions on how to locate and search the archives. To search the PATE-L archives 1.Use your browser- go to http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl 2. This will take you to a page that says "Mailing List Archives" "RootsWeb Mailing Lists -- Interactive Search" 3. Type the word PATE in the "Name of List" Box 4. Click on the "Submit Query" button 5. This will take you to a page that says "Mailing List Archives" "Search the Archive of Messages for PATE Mailing List" You will see the following "Query" box Select database to search list ( ) 1998 ( ) 1999 ( ) 2000 ( ) 2001 ( ) 2002 ( ) 2003 and a "Search" button 6. Select the yearly database you wish to search. 7. Type the keyword(s) you wish to search for in the "Query" box 8. Click on the "Search" button. 9. All of the messages with your keyword(s) will return with the line- Select: [Full] [FROM] [TO] [MESSAGE-ID] [SUBJECT] [CONTENT-TYPE] [MESSAGE-BODY] 10. To read the message click on the icon [Full] 11. You can do Boolean searches using the delimiter AND. Example: Pate AND 1848
