Linda & Joel - I show this Robert F Pate is from what I call the NC Pate's and as you know, I don't usually get into those lines, but do have a little info that may be of help Robert F Pate, b. 29 Jul 1845, Camden, Wilcox Co, AL d. 27 Oct 1923, Pensacola, Escambia Co, FL md Nancy Ann Theodosia "Docita" Jordan I show Robert F Pate is son of Elijah & Elizabeth Pate - which does not fit the father being shown as "W" - but it does seem to fit from the census records I've found - as you know, this is SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION In 1840 Butler Co, AL Elijah Pate -age 20-30 2 Females 15-20 1 male Under 5 (Benilee?) 1850 Butler Co, AL Elizabeth Pate age 28 b. SC (evidently a widow) Benilee Pate age 13 b. AL Robert Pate age 10 b. AL (is this Robert F??) Mary Pate age 6 James Pate age 4 Margaret Pate age 6 mos Chiner Clements age 4 Then in 1870 Mobile Co, AL Robert Pate age 22 b. AL - he listed as Policeman (b. 1848) Ann Pate age 18 b. AL Elizabeth Pate age 49 b. SC I did not find the family in 1860 - so possibly they were living in Wilcox co, AL In 1910 Escambia Co, FL Robert F Pait age 56 b. AL/father b. Unknown/Mother b. Unknown a widower/ married 30 yrs (b. 1854) Dudley Pate age 17 - son; b. FL/AL/AL Christian E Pate age 14 - son; b. FL/AL/AL In 1920 Escambia Co, FL Christian E Pate age 24 b. FL Zella B Pate age 22, wife b. FL Christian E Pate, Jr - age 3, son b. FL Robert F Pate age 76 - father, b. AL (b. 1844) As you can see the only census that fits his supposedly year of birth is 1920 - wonder if he really knew the right year?? Linda, at least this may give you something to work on. Jinks
