My Jesse PATE was born in Buncumbe, NC in the early 1800's. In the 1820's he is in and around Sangamon Co, IL along with Jacob, Riley, Wm, and Redding PATE - voting, marrying, etc. It is possible they are all brothers of Jesse. Jesse marries Loucretia EDWARDS and they leave the area for Galena, IL. They stay about a year and then move into the Wisconsin Territory of Jackson Co, IA, where they are among its first settlers. I have been trying to find his parents to no avail. But it has been suggested to me that the possibility of his belonging to this Matthew and Samuel line are a good possibility. Any takers?
