    3. The Daily Oklahoman July 19, 1984 Section: NEWS Column: DEATHS AND FUNERALS Hamp Wade Pate PATE Hamp Wade, died July 17 at Baptist Hospital. He was 81, born in Arkansas, a longtime resident of OKC. He married Myrtle Marvis Mae Thomas on June 6, 1925 in El Dorado AR. A retired oilman, he was the inventor of oilfield equipment, including the drill bit. He was very generous to his family and with his anonymous gifts to those in need. Survived by his wife, Myrtle, of the home; 3 daughters, ( ) of Enid OK, ( ) of OKC, ( ) of OKC; 3 sisters, ( ) of Dallas TX, ( ) of CA, and ( ) of AR; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Services 11am Thursday, Portland Ave. Baptist Church, interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Guardian Midtown. She was born Sept. 14, 1907 in Philadelphia MS. Mrs. Pate was a devoted homemaker, an avid gardener, and a true southern lady, and was a devoted and loving mother. She was a longtime member of Portland Ave. Baptist Church, where she sang in the Sonshine Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Hamp Wade Pate, and a daughter, Ferida Henley. She is survived by 3 daughters, ( ) of OKC, ( ) of Enid OK, and ( ) of Miami FL; 3 sisters, ( ) of Kerrville TX, ( ) of Memphis TN, ( ) of McGeHee AR; 9 grandchildren, ( ); 4 great-grandchildren, ( ). Services 9:30 am Saturday, Portland Ave. Baptist Church, interment Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Guardian Midtown. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated donations be made to the Portland Ave. Baptist Church.
