My Family.com, Inc., owns the Ancestry.com genealogy site. One of the features of Ancestry.com is a voluntary GedCom file know as the Ancestry World Tree http://www.ancestry.com/trees/awt/main.htm My Family.com, Inc, "owns" RootsWeb.com. Some folks still talk of "merger" still talk of "association", "affiliation" and "sister" service and other things. The plain, unvarnished, economic and financial truth of the matter is My Family.com, Inc., a for profit corporation, owns, possesses and controls RootsWeb.com and all of its content and features! RootsWeb still styles itself as "Free". One of the features of RootsWeb.com is a voluntary GedCom file known as WorldConnect http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ The banner at WorldConnect reads- "RootsWeb.com-The World's Oldest and Largest FREE genealogy site, supported by Ancestry.Com" Some one asked if the GedCom files voluntarily submitted to RootsWeb's WorldConnect are mirrored on Ancestry.com's World Tree. The answer to that question is absolutely YES. I have posted one and only GedCom file to RootsWeb's World Connect. It bares my address- patej@nettally.com as the contact person. That same Gedcom file is available at Ancestry.com's World Tree site. It too has my address as the contact person. Check it out for your self. Go to both sites and search for ANGUS PATE. Look for the one where the names are all caps. Joel
