    3. I also am donating my family information to the county historical society of the counties that my mother and father originated from. I also have spent $$$$$$$$$$$ purchasing documents, and my children show little interest, however, I have made copies of my information for each of my grandchildren (I only have 3) and from there they can pass it to their children whatever they choose to do with it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "linda la hue" <kinseeker@iowatelecom.net> To: <PATE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 11:28 AM Subject: Re: [PATE GENEALOGY] Your Family Tree As of yet, I have not shared my family lines on Ancestry.com. I always thought that I would like to keep my research free. I have paid hundreds of dollars and a lot of time to get my research. My problem. None of my children are interested, and I do not believe that will ever change. So, what happens to my research that I have spent hours and all of that money on when I pass away ??? I would like to share it. Whether it is with Ancestry, Genealogy.com, or whoever. Whether it is free, or whether it costs you. I want my lines out there. They were very hard to find, and I know that the next person who is researching our family, is going to have the same problems that I did. Some of the people that I got information from, are no longer living. How is the next person going to find that information, if I don't share it?? I am going to give one copy of my genealogy to the state and county where my mother and her family came from. Then, I am going to share with all. Just my views Linda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mema" <rmemazz@charter.net> To: <PATE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 10:58 AM Subject: Re: [PATE GENEALOGY] Your Family Tree > I understand that you all have put time and effort into your collecting & organizing your family history, and feel somewhat > proprietary about it, but if you are truly interested in your families history; then to collaborate with any & all others is the > best way to do it. > > Why would you limit yourself to only those researchers who were looking at "free" information? > > What is wrong with "sharing" your information generously to all who are researching their families. > > Did you ever pay for information contained in certificates or documents from counties or states or libraries? > > Just a few thoughts > mema > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <lunar@ipa.net> > To: <PATE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 6:43 AM > Subject: Re: [PATE GENEALOGY] Your Family Tree > > > > My thoughts exactly! > > > > Carolyn wrote: > > > Charging for information that has been provided to Ancestry for free does > > > not seem like good business to me.
