Lindy The west half of Monroe county was taken to form Pike county in 1822. Pike remained unorganized until 1824 at which time the south half of it was taken to form Upson county. The only Edward Pate I've found in this era (1820-1830) was an Edward Pate in the 1820 Morgan Co. There was, perhaps another Edward Pate in GA at the time, but there are no census record on him. There are some census and guardianship records that indicated that he probably died before 1830, his wife's name was Mary and they had three children. Elizabeth, Joseph and Abner Pate. Mary, the widow, and sons Joseph and Abner appear in the 1850 census of Harris Co GA.
