Hi all Pate Researchers . I am stuck on John Pate who was in Melbourne Australia early 1860`s . His Victorian ( a state of Australia ) marriage certificate dated 1863 stated he was born Edinburgh c1840 to George , a Miller, and Bessie McKerrow or McAra . As there was several questionable statements on the marriage certificate some of this information could be suspect . I would like to correspond with descendants or anyone who might help and ascertain ancestors .Family stories are that he came out on a ship as an engineer so I assume a Steamship .
