from the Lawton (OK) Constitution: Helen Smith Pate ELGIN -- Graveside service for former Lawton and Elgin area resident Helen Marie Smith Pate, 78, Hawaii, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elgin Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Pate died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in Hawaii. Arrangements are by Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. She was born April 25, 1926, in Lawton. She graduated from Lawton High School and later attended college in California. She received her master's degree and became a family/marriage therapist. She is the widow of the late Kenneth Pate, Master Gunnery Sergeant, retired. She had lived in Hawaii with her son for the past seven years. Survivors include her son, John Rathjen, Hawaii; a sister, Clara Wargo, Texas; grandchildren: Rick Sanders and Michelle Brauer; and nephews: David and Michael Wargo.
