Joel, I am sending some notes that came from material found when my mother-in-law died. "Joann Pate was born in Cobden Ill. Had one brother Bissell Pate, a half brother ?. A half sister Mary Kathrine Page. Joann's stepfather was Charlie Page." Now the spelling of some names may differ but at least this provides a clue for our use. Also the following notes were on the Virgil Stewart Maddox, husband of Johanna Pate. "Virgil Maddox with 2 brothers Harrison and Sylvester and daughter Nora moved to Ft Scott or Cherryvale Kan. About 1879 after the death of his wife in KY. He lived in Kan. 9 years--Sylvester died in Kan. Harrison went back to KY. 2 Sisters remained in KY. (Harrison and Sylvester were twins)--Virgil met and married Joann Pate, a school teacher, about 1879--moved to Fannin Co Tex same year--moved to Wise Co about 1884--moved to Indian Teritory, near Ardmore 1888. (Virgil can be found in the 1880 census in Montgomery Co, KS) I believe that the mother of Nora B. Maddox died in KY or at least in that area as Virgil was born in Beaver Dam, Ohio KY and that is where is family was living.
