Ellen: Jinks was kind enough to recheck the Ingmire books on Texas marriages. The correct marriage year for Joanna Pate and Virgil Stewart Maddox is 1879 NOT 1864 as I had earlier written. Specifically "J. A. Pate married Virgil S Maddox in McLennan Co TX 27 Aug 1879, officiating was Elder J M Wright (sounds Presbyterian). So Nora B Maddox age 12 b KY was definitely the child of a first wife of Virgil Stewart Maddox. Since Nora was b in KY and her father and mother probably married in KY. I don't know where I got the date 8 Dec 1864 for a marriage date for Virgil Stewart Maddox. It MAY PERHAPS be for his first marriage. Joel
