    3. Hi Chandra, The names you refer to are naturally duplicated so many times, from generation to generation, so I'm thinking that possibly we could be connected? My line has George W. too, and even the half brothers or cousins named Matthew. Mine is DOB: 10 SEP 1888 son of: Edward M Pate 28 NOV 1840, and Angeline Pate ( third and final wife ). Pension documents show George's father in Kansas Cavalry, addresses in Garland Co, Bear Co, and Montgomery Co. AR., but I haven't been working on the generations before him, but heavily on the generations following. Are we in the same line? deborah ----- Original Message ----- From: lunar@ipa.net<mailto:lunar@ipa.net> To: PATE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PATE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 2004 7:26 PM Subject: [PATE GENEALOGY] PATEs of Washington Co., Illinois I know there are people out there working on these lines. Can anyone help me determine whether Lewis was a brother of George W. and/or Mathew II (the merchant)? Mathew II was born (according to WorldConnect) 20 Sep 1785 Tennessee, Lewis was born abt. 1791 Tennessee, and George W. was born abt. 1801 Tennessee. All were in Washington Co., Illinois circa 1820-1840. I understand that Mathew was son of Mathew I, and the only sibling mentioned is an unnamed sister. No luck finding parents or siblings of George W. or Lewis (my line). Sure wish I could find a will for Mathew I - any idea where to look? Many Thanks! Chandra Dawson Martin

    2. Deborah, I don't know the answer to that, but I've seen posts about an Edward M. PATE on the PATE surname boards. Can't remember whether he was in Illinois. The names George W. (Washington) and Matthew are so common, that it's hard to tell whether it's connection or coincidence. 3. Chandra, Thank you very much for this page. In working with Montgomery Co Volunteers; I had not been to this one. It is exactly what I needed. This is my line, with just a few corrections or additions needed. deborah ----- Original Message ----- From: lunar@ipa.net<mailto:lunar@ipa.net> To: PATE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PATE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2004 3:46 PM Subject: Re: [PATE GENEALOGY] PATEs of Washington Co., Illinois Deborah, This webpage <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~xrysta/acdpcd-p/p435.htm<http://homepagesrootsweb.com/~xrysta/acdpcd-p/p435.htm>> lists your Edward M.
