Gilbert and John Wiley are not PATE names that are in my husband's tree (currently at least). Milam County, Texas is, however, next to Williamson County, Texas. Joseph Francis PATE married in Williamson County in 1887 and was in Bell County, Texas (one county north of Williamson) in 1891. His sister, Amanda, may also have been in Williamson County in 1887. So, it appears that the families were in the same general locations during those years, but that is all I can say for sure.
