One correction first - the name of my husband's great grandfather was Joseph FRANCIS Pate. Here is a re-posting of the list of births that I transcribed from the Family Bible register pages that were tucked into the Joseph F PATE/Mattie BARRINGTON Bible. You will note that it is a two generation list: ******************************************************* BIRTH RECORDS 1 Joseph T. Pate was born August the 30, 1826 William F. Pate was born October the 4, 1827 Orra C. Pate was born July the 12, 1830 Thomas J. Pate was born December the 25, 1832 John D. Pate was born November the 28, 1834 Martha J. Pate was born May the 3, 1837 This written June the 10, 1850 by J T Pate BIRTH RECORDS 2 J T Pate M T Pate thair (sic) family record Isabeler C. Pate was born the 13 of January 1857 Amanda J. Pate was born the 7 of February 1858 James M. Pate was born December the 16, 1859 Sarah E. Pate was born January the 5, 1862 William L. Pate was born November the 12, 1864 **************************** There is a death record for Isabeler C. Pate who "departed this life January the 11, 1858". **************************** You will also note that Joseph Francis Pate is not included on the list of children on BIRTH RECORDS 2. However, I am convinced that he is the youngest child of this family. The PATE/BARRINGTON Family Bible states that he was born in Anderson County, TX in August 1867. Joseph T. PATE was in Anderson County, TX in August 1867. Joseph F. Pate's youngest daughter is still living. We purchased the Family Bible and a tintype of Jackson Fitzgerald at an estate sale at her former home. And lastly the 1870 Wadeville, Navarro County, Texas census ties him to this family. Sharon PS The 1880 census does show Johnie Ella TIPPS to be 17. I didn't look at it carefully enough the first time.
