    3. I am trying to place a John Henry Pate (still living) in my list of Pates, and I need to know who his father was. His wife Evelyn passed away earlier this year (see obit at www.southalabamanews.com/01292004.pdf, page 5). Can anyone help? TIA! David P. Moore mooredp@uah.edu

Lifelong resident of Conecuh Co., AL Survivors: Husband of 63 years-John Henry Pate (md ca 1941) Sons: Larry Pate (Eva) of Belleville, Conecuh Co., AL Jerry Pate (Bobbi) of Burnt Corn, Monroe Co., AL Daughters: Joelene Dean (Jerold) of Burnt Corn, Monroe Co., AL Judy Powe (Mack) of Camden, Wilcox Co., AL Barbara Holt of Jackson, Clarke Co., AL Nancy Davis (Ronnie) of Brewton, Escambia Co., AL Grands: 11 Grandchildren 11 Great grandchildren Brother: Charles Burt of Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL Evelyn Burt Pate was born ca 1922. The only census window available for her would be 1930. See David L Burt (Hattie) 1930 Conecuh Co., AL, Enum Dist 18-3, sheet 9A, Mill Precinct, site 148/155. Household has Evelyn Burt age 9y and Charles E Burt age 1y 2m. It is reasonable to conclude that John Henry Pate is equal to or older in age than his wife. I can't find a John Henry Pate in the 1930 census of Conecuh Co., AL, but it does not necessarily follow that he, like his wife, has been a lifelong resident of Conecuh Co., or even south Alabama for that matter. There are multiple possibilities in the 1920 and 1930 censuses, but too many to reasonably speculate.
