PATE WINSTON-SALEM ~ Carrie Elizabeth Acker Pate Aug. 28, 1934 ~ Oct. 26, 2011 On Oct. 26, 2011, Carrie Elizabeth Acker Pate slipped into the arms of her Savior to rest in eternity with her husband, Rev. Odell Bailey Pate; her parents, James and Carrie Acker; a son, Odell Bernard Pate; a daughter, Imetta Pate; and two sisters, Betty Jean Thrash and Annette Brown. Mrs. Pate, a professional cook, was born in Anderson, SC. She was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and a long-time employee of the Courtyard Marriott. She leaves cherished memories with: one aunt, Hattie Greene; sister, Verdell Campbell; brother, James Acker; seven children: Adele Pate, Cordelia Cooper (Fred), Preston Pate, Richard Pate, Maeola Leak (Paul), Reginald Acker, and Janice Acker; a devoted daughter-in-law, Delphine Smith Pate; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; her extended family, Elmo and Patricia Douthit; and faithful friend, Wanda Davis. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John C. Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
