GORMAN Fred M. "Mike" Gorman, formerly of Orient, OH, age 91, died peacefully in his sleep on October 2, 2012. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Betty, his childhood sweetheart. He worked for International Harvester Co. and IH Dealers for 29 years before he returned to farming from which he retired in 1983 after 17 seasons. A veteran of WWII he was a life member #8 of the 12th Armored Div. Assn. where he served for many years as Service Officer. Among his medals are the Bronze Star Medal and the ETO Medal with 3 Bronze Battle Stars. He also was a life member of the American Ex-POW's, Disabled American Veterans, and the Rhine and Danube Assn. Other memberships include the Ohio Chapter #1 Ex-POW's, American Legion, Grove City Lodge #689 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Hilltop Shrine Club, and the Grove City United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by sisters Doris Mae, Alexandria, OH, Thelma Keller, Bedford, OH, brothers John Plainfield, IN, Charles, Cibolo, TX. Mike is survived by his two sons, James D. (Jackie), Orland Park, IL, Thomas M. (Barbara), Arden, NC; seven grandchildren, Ted (Kathy), Lisa (Stuart) Warner, Matt, Andy (Nancy), Ty (Stacey), Melissa Martin, Greta (Bill) Pate; 13 great- grandchildren, Samantha Gorman and Brian and Brooke Warner, Elise, Carly, Marin, Grace and Noah Gorman, Calvin, Colman, Clayton Martin, Tommy and Susanna Pate; and brother, Robert (Marjory), Paulding, OH. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. Masonic Service at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, where funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Dr. Thomas Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Alexandria, OH with Military Honors.
