Published in The Advocate on August 23, 2006 Arthur "Brother" Pate Pate, Arthur "Brother" Arthur Pate, affectionately known as "brother," passed away at 12:36 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at his home in Baton Rouge after a lengthy illness. He was 67 and a native of Weyanoke. Visiting at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 9700 Scenic Highway, on Wednesday, Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Religious service at the church at noon Wednesday, conducted by Dr. Jesse B. Bilberry Jr. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Daisy M. Pate; three daughters and spouses, Vickie and Norman Fair, Sharon and Frank Coleman and Sandra and Joseph Taylor; son, Donald Harrison Pate; four sisters, Odia P. McKay, Laura P. Wailes, Ella Gatlin Bailey and Gloria and Joseph Searcy; stepmother, Violet Pate; two stepdaughters, Deliah Curtis and Julie Harris; two stepsons, Leroy McDowell and Patrick McCall; three sisters-in-law, Audrey Ross, Helen and spouse Byron Lightbody, and Veronica Batiste; four brothers-in-law, Larry and wife Beatrice Batiste, Joseph and wife Claudia Batiste, Willis and wife Barbara Batiste, and Gary Batiste; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Samuel Pate and Laura J. Pate; and sister, Atlean Mars. He was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. Arrangements by Capital Funeral Home.
