John Fleming Pate, 83, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008, at his home. Visitation services will be today from 5 - 7 p.m. at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12 - 1 p.m. at Baldwin Lee. Interment will follow at Lakewood South Cemetery. Mr. Pate was a longtime resident of Jackson and member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served as a Marine during WWII and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He worked as the District Manager for the Social Security Administration, retiring after 30 years of service. Mr. Pate was an avid world traveler, traveling over 160 countries and territories. He was a devoted husband and father. Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; and his son, Mike Pate. He is survived by three sons, John Pate (Gwen), Hilton Pate and Stephen Pate; grandchildren, Andy Pate and Layla Pate; one great granddaughter, Lana; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Carr.
