Jean Pate Sweet Jean Pate passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters in Palm Desert on February 20th, 2012. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David F Pate. Jean was born in Denver Colorado where she spent her youth. She was a Kappa at the University of Wyoming where she graduated with a degree in French. She and Dave were married in Denver where they spent the early years of their marriage raising three daughters, Tracey (Mike), Linda and Karen (Ben). Jean and Dave retired in Palm Desert in 1984 after owning a successful furniture business in the San Francisco Bay Area. Besides her daughters, Jean leaves behind three wonderful grandchildren, David, Ben Jr. and Alexis, of whom she was very proud. Jean's greatest joys in life were her family, a good book, fine dining and a great cocktail party with friends. She was a grand and elegant lady who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank Desert Hematology and Oncology and their wonderful staff and physicians, most especially Dr. Philip Dreisbach. We would also like to thank Visiting Angels and VNA Hospice. They were all a wonderful source of comfort and support for Jean. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest donations to the VNA Hospice of Palm Desert or the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.
