Novellia White Pate, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday, Jan 23, 2009, at Wesley Manor Retirement home. She graced us with 100 precious years. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 25, 2009, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, near Slocomb with Rev. John Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday. Mrs. Pate was born in Slocomb on March 23, 1908, the daughter of the late Joseph J. White and Annie Lee Hagler White. She and her husband Paul moved to Mount Dora, Fla., in 1935. They owned and ran the Mount Dora Dairy from 1943 until the mid-1950s. Mrs. Pate made her home in Florida until returning to Dothan in the 1990s. She was a faithful and lifelong Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Pate; and daughter, Annie Bell Nichols. Survivors include two granddaughters, Rebecca Nichols Woodard of Apex, N.C., and Susan Elaine Nichols of Paisley, Fla.; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
