Mrs. Sara Waddell Pate, 89, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Feb. 15, 1914, in Columbus County to Charles and Gussie Williamson Waddell. Mrs. Pate was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Murray L. Pate; two brothers, Joe and Jamie Waddell; and two sisters, Lois Waddell and Clara B. Waddell. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ann Jones and husband, R.B., of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Jan Jones of Charlotte and Kyle Jones and wife, Kathy, of Atlanta; two sisters, Grace Wright of Winston-Salem and Doris Wright of Graham; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Donald Funderburk and the Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 9, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
