Lydia Louneal Strickland Pate of Ashford passed away Friday, June 1, 2007, at Flowers Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was 62 . Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, from the Chapel of Kent â€" Thornton â€" Meadows Funeral Home in Ashford with the Rev. Eldridge Pate and Chaplain John Withrock officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Pansey. The family received friends on Saturday, June 2, at the funeral home in Ashford. The family will be at the residence of K.V. Pate, 2798 Old Highway 84 East, Ashford. Mrs. Pate was born Nov. 23, 1944, in Lineville, to the late Renzo Strickland and Era Butterworth Strickland and moved to the Ashford area in 1972. She was employed for several years with Russell Corporation in Columbia and also with Wex â€" Tex in Ashford. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and growing flowers but the most enjoyable was her grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye. She was of the Baptist faith . Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Dennis and Travis Strickland, one sister, Helen Wakefield, brother-in-law, Ernest Wakefield. Survivors include her husband, K.V. Pate, of Ashford; one son, David Pate and wife Sherrie of Ashford, AL; two daughters, Rejeanna Haddan and husband George of Ashford and Kelly Vann and husband Virgil of Ashford; and a brother, Donald Strickland, of Lineville; ten grandchildren, Brian Haddan of Kuwait, Jeffery Haddan, Ronnie Davis, Jamie Vann, Kevin Davis, James Gardner, Cody Haddan, Jessica Vann, Brandon Pate, and Shelby Pate, all of Ashford; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Active pallbearers will be Jeffery Haddan, Ronnie Davis, Kevin Davis, James Gardner, Greg Buntin, Todd Ingram and Lamar Stephens .
